Open Scale
Open association for the definition of interoperability standards in the weighing industry
For scale device
manufacturer
OpenScale as an non-profit organization that aims to define a set of technologies to ensure stable and durable interoperability between weighing systems and management/automation software.
OpenScale is also the name of the platform/protocol that allows a weighing terminal to interface with all of today’s and tomorrow’s software systems produced by software house and system integrator companies “OpenScale compliant”
- Encouraging the introduction of weighing devices in an increasing number of industrial processes
- Software houses and system integrators need stable, well-documented, hardware independent and above all standard protocols
OpenScale is designed to allow the connected hardware device to work either in the cloud or locally
- Any manufacturer can join the association, download the technical documentation and develop its own driver to connect the scale device to an OpenScale platform.
- ready-to-use driver templates will be available
- a free, 24-hour environment will be available for testing and interface trials
- Membership of the OpenScale project is free and open-ended.
- Participation in the organization does not imply payment of a fee
- There is no deadline, the aim of OpenScale is to ensure long-term support for all project actors.
- The members are responsible for developing and updating the connection driver in order to meet all the technical requirements of the OpenScale system.
- The “OpenScale” logo can only be used by the manufacturer when the connection driver to the “OpenScale” platform is certified.
- Certification process is easy and completely by remote
- Certification is specific to each hardware device (model) and can be verified by QRCode or via the OpenScale website.
For system integrator and software house
The OpenScale platform software is released as open-source and can be used by anyone free of charge. Membership of the OpenScale project is free and open-ended. The "OpenScale compliant" logo can only be used by the software house that made a fully integration of all functionalities.
